Virtual Meets Personal
Consequent 2022 will blend a series of virtual global summits with in-person social gatherings in San Francisco. For the fourth year, this unconventional convening reimagines the traditional university commencement ceremony, with a program that inspires open discourse on topics of profound importance.
Bringing exceptional students together with alumni and some of the world’s most accomplished professionals and academics, Consequent engages participants across generations and disciplines. The diversity of individuals and conversations reliably promotes fresh insights, new connections, and unexpected collaborations.
Consequent has redefined what a commencement should be: full of intellectual inquiry and inspiration, helping impressive students embark on changing the world.
The 2022 program comprises three days of virtual summits held on Minerva’s Forum™ platform, with the same fifteen topics discussed over four different time slots, and an in-person program including small group dinners and evening reception.
As a participant, you can join up to four different 2-hour sessions, on some of the most pressing issues of our time. You are encouraged to join as many activities as your schedule allows.
Consequent attracts notable professionals and academics from a range of organizations and disciplines. Past participants have included Nobel laureates, leading venture capitalists, celebrated artists and musicians, prominent philanthropists, and award-winning authors.

We devised Consequent as a counterpoint to the typical university commencement. Instead of listening to some celebrity give an inspirational speech, we want students to engage meaningfully with a diversity of brilliant thinkers on truly consequential issues.
Sessions address an array of thorny societal challenges.
Past programs included topics such as:

Are methodical approaches to radical change impossible?
Normalizing Narcissism
By becoming more self-aware have we become self-involved?
TMI
Is the trend toward increased sharing a net positive or negative for personal freedom?
Let Them Eat Steak?
Balancing the environment and economic mobility
